Jered Weaver lacks control, earns second loss

Jered Weaver gave up six runs over four and one third innings on Saturday night. Mike Moustakas and Salvador Perez each hit a home run off Weaver, who walked four batters and struck out five. Weaver also struggled in his first start, when he gave up four runs in six innings.
Fantasy Impact:
Weaver has seen his FIP rise from 3.06 in 2010 to 4.19 in 2014, while his K rate has dropped from 26% to 19%. He threw only 56% strikes in this start, and his pitches this year are all down in velocity from 2015. His next start is in Oakland, where he had a 5.68 ERA and a 1.58 WHIP in 2014. The A's have averaged six runs per game in the first week, which is second in the majors. Consider benching him if you have other weekly league options.
