“Cesar Valdez will be stretched out, pitch multiple innings,” said Orioles manager Brandon Hyde. “Will build up his innings and see where he is at the end of camp.” Valdez was mainly used as a reliever last year, but the Orioles can now evaluate whether he’d be viewed as a starter. The 35-year-old posted a 1.26 ERA, 0.70 WHIP and a 12:3 K:BB across 14 1/3 innings in 2020.
