Caleb Smith continuing to work on curve ball this offseason

"The curveball is coming along really well," Smith said. "I picked it up pretty quick, actually. I think it's right where I need it to be. I think it’s going to help my repertoire a lot this season." The southpaw notes that he wants a breaking ball that is slower than his slider, which he feels is too similar to the velocity of his fastball. The 29-year-old was acquired from the Marlins at the trade deadline last year and posted a 2.45 ERA in five games (four starts).
