Zac Gallen gives up a pair of hits and walks in Cactus League debut

by Jon Mathisen | Diamondbacks Correspondent | Mon, Mar 1st 12:53am EST

Zac Gallen pitched two scoreless innings in his Cactus League debut on Sunday. He allowed two hits and two walks while striking out one in Arizona's 5-2 loss to the Rockies.

Fantasy Impact:

Gallen struggled with his command in the first inning when he walked back-to-back batters before settling down. He then gave up back-to-back singles in the second inning but he stranded the runners in both cases so no real damage was done. The 25-year-old righty was a stud for the D-backs last season when he registered a 2.75 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, and 82:25 K/BB ratio over 72 innings. He should once again operate as Arizona's ace this year and is a quality SP2 option in fantasy drafts.
