Jake Odorizzi agrees to two-year deal with Houston Astros

by Mike Maher | Rays Correspondent | Sat, Mar 6th 12:33pm EST

Right-hander Jake Odorizzi and the Houston Astros are in agreement on a two-year deal with a player option, according to a report from ESPN MLB insider Jeff Passan. (Jeff Passan on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

Odorizzi tossed 13 2/3 forgettable innings in 2020 but was excellent in 2019, pitching to a 3.51 ERA with 178 strikeouts over 159 innings for the Minnesota Twins. With Framber Valdez facing season-ending surgery for a fractured ring finger, the Astros had an obvious need in the rotation. Odorizzi will now slide in behind Zack Greinke and Lance McCullers, with Jose Urquidy, Cristian Javier, and Luis Garcia likely battling it out for two of the final three spots in the rotation.
