Brandon Belt (illness) to continue hitting and throwing, per Gabe Kapler

by Jon Mathisen | Mon, Mar 8th 7:44pm EST

Brandon Belt, who is recovering from a non-COVID-19 related illness and offseason heel surgery, will continue to hit and throw for "at least the next few days," according to Giants manager Gabe Kapler. (John Shea on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

Belt resumed baseball activities last week and will continue to do so for the next few days. It sounds like he's inching closer to making his spring debut, which is a good sign. He still has a chance to be ready for Opening Day but he needs to start getting some at-bats sooner than later. The 32-year-old put up great numbers last season when he slashed .309/.425/.591 with nine home runs and 30 RBI over 149 at-bats. If he can enter the regular season with a clean bill of health he's a sneaky late-round value in fantasy drafts.
