Bobby Witt Jr. to get some work in the outfield

The Royals plan to give top SS prospect Bobby Witt Jr. some work in the outfield over the next few weeks. (Alec Lewis on Twitter)

"It goes back to opportunity," manager Mike Matheny said. "The more opportunities there are the better likelihood of the player getting to join us. Not ruling anything out." Witt was recently demoted to the minors but it's clear that Kansas City would like to see him in the majors at some point this season. He was playing some second base this spring, and adding the outfield to his resume would only increase his chances at a big league promotion. Witt no longer needs to be drafted as a late-round option in redraft leagues, but he'll be someone to monitor this spring. He's a must-have player whenever he debuts.
