Franchy Cordero on track to start season on Red Sox roster

by Matt Flipi | Thu, Mar 25th 5:29pm EDT

Franchy Cordero could start the season on the Red Sox Opening Day roster, according to manager Alex Cora. Cora said Cordero has 'answered every challenge,' after arriving to camp late due to a positive COVID-19 result. (Alex Speier on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

After arriving late to camp because of a positive COVID-19 result, Cordero has progressed well throughout spring training. Cordero made his Grapefruit League debut last weekend, and in the three games he has appeared in he's slashing .429/.500/.429. It's obviously an incredibly small sample, but Cora's comments seem to indicate the Red Sox believe Cordero has progressed well over the past few weeks. Because of the optimism coming out of Red Sox camp, it's safe to assume Cordero will miss very little, if any, time to start the season.
