Brett Anderson allows one earned run for the win

by Stan Son | Thu, Apr 16th 1:16am EDT

Brett Anderson pitched five solid innings Wednesday night against the Seattle Mariners. He allowed six hits, two runs (one earned), one walk, and struck out three. His only mistake was a curveball that Nelson Cruz crushed to dead center. He left the game with the bases loaded in the sixth inning, but the bullpen got him out of the jam. 50 of 73 pitches were thrown for strikes.

Fantasy Impact:

Anderson was efficient and kept the Mariners bats off-balance all night. He threw his fastball at 91 mph, curveball at 78 mph, and slider at 83 mph. If he can stay healthy, Anderson provides some fantasy value as he pitches in Chavez Ravine, with a good defense behind him, and a solid offense. He could rack up some wins and help in ERA and WHIP. Strikeouts won't be plentiful and there is always injury risk but the cost to acquire him in minimal.
