Scott Kingery optioned to minor league camp Sunday

The Phillies optioned versatile infielder/outfielder Scott Kingery to minor league camp on Sunday after he failed to win a roster spot in spring training. (John Clark on Twitter)
Fantasy Impact:
Kingery signed a long-term contract extension before making his debut with the Phillies in 2018, and he flashed his potential in 2019, batting .258 with 19 home runs and 15 stolen bases in 126 games. He hit just .159 with a .511 OPS in 2020, however, and his struggles continued in spring training in 2021. He'll start the year at the team's alternate training site in hopes of regaining some confidence and earning a promotion back to the big league squad.
