Clayton Kershaw takes the loss on Opening Day

by Jon Mathisen | Dodgers Correspondent | Thu, Apr 1st 9:50pm EDT

Clayton Kershaw took the loss on Thursday when he surrendered six runs (five earned) on 10 hits while striking out a pair and walking one over 5 2/3 innings in the Dodgers 8-5 loss to the Rockies.

Fantasy Impact:

Only one of the 10 hits Kershaw allowed went for extra bases as the Rockies played small ball and singled him to death. He only fired off 77 pitches, 55 of which were strikes, but punched out just two batters. It ended up being a tough luck loss for Kershaw as the Dodgers had a chance to steal the game in the ninth inning but fell short. He should fare better in his start when he gets the A's in Oakland.
