Lance McCullers Jr. allows two hits over five innings

by Andersen Pickard | Astros Correspondent | Sat, Apr 3rd 7:27pm EDT

In his first start of the season, Astros pitcher Lance McCullers Jr. held the Athletics to just one run, two hits, and three walks over five innings of work. He also struck out seven batters while amassing a respectable 54-41 strikes-to-balls ratio.

Fantasy Impact:

McCullers was recently signed to a five-year extension as Houston showed faith in keeping him in the rotation long-term. While they would have liked for him to last longer than five innings, his ability to hold Oakland to just one run should not go unnoticed. He earned the win after setting the stage for the Astros' 9-1 victory. The 27-year-old right-hander checks in at No. 36 in the latest rest-of-season expert consensus rankings.
