Jordan Hicks pitches scoreless inning in middle relief in loss to Reds

by Lucas Spence | Giants Correspondent | Sat, Apr 3rd 11:40pm EDT

Trailing 9-3 at the time, Cardinals reliever Jordan Hicks entered the game in the bottom of the seventh inning, pitching a clean 1-2-3 inning.

Fantasy Impact:

The flame-throwing right-hander sat at 97-98 mph with his fastball and induced three quick groundouts, throwing only 13 pitches (7 strikes). Given his appearance in a low-leverage situation and the recent announcement that Alex Reyes would operate as the closer for now, Hicks does not seem like he will be getting any save chances in the near future as he works his way back after missing the past one-and-a-half seasons. With that said, we would recommend holding Hicks in a wait-and-see approach for now, as there still seems like a good chance he returns to the ninth inning at some point.
