LHP Julio Urias picked up his second win of the season when he allowed three runs on nine hits with three strikeouts over 5 2/3 innings in a 9-5 win over the Nationals on Saturday.
Urias ran into some trouble from the outset when he allowed three singles and a run in the first inning. The frame could have got out of hand but Zach McKinstry threw out Ryan Zimmerman who was attempting to reach third base off a Starlin Castro single that also scored Juan Soto. Urias settled down after that and didn't allow another run until Juan Soto's solo home run in the sixth inning. Yan Gomes picked up an RBI single in the same inning and Urias was lifted at 5 2/3 innings. he induced a lot of contact in this one, only striking out three, but didn't walk any batters. The 24-year-old southpaw now owns a 2.84 ERA, 1.03 WHIP, and 9:1 K/BB ratio to begin the season. He'll look to pick up his third-straight win vs. the Padres next week.
