Kenley Jansen nails down the save for LA on Sunday

by Jon Mathisen | Red Sox Correspondent | Sun, Apr 11th 7:37pm EDT

RHP Kenley Jansen earned the save on Sunday when he worked a scoreless ninth inning while striking out two in the Dodgers 3-0 win over the Nationals.

Fantasy Impact:

Both Corey Knebel and Blake Treinen worked the seventh and eighth innings, respectively, so perhaps earlier reports of Jansen's demise as the closer were shortsighted. He looked plenty sharp on Sunday as well, whiffing Luis Garcia and Starlin Castro on seven pitches before getting Yadiel Hernandez to ground out softly to end the game. Manager Dave Roberts came out and said earlier that Jansen's workload will be managed throughout the season so fantasy managers that rushed to pick up Knebel will still get occasional save opportunities. Jansen will still get the lion's share of chances, which he certainly deserves if he keeps putting performances as he did on Sunday.
