Mark Melancon earned his fifth save of the season in the Padres' win over the Rangers on Sunday. Melancon struck out one in the outing.
Fantasy Impact:
Melancon has had quite the start to the year, as he currently leads the MLB in saves. Obviously the season is only a little over a week old, but it is still significant that Melancon is getting so many opportunities. Melancon's strike out rate is a bit concerning for a closer, but he has gotten the job done by throwing strikes and inducing soft contact. The Padres should keep winning, and assuming they don't start blowing out every team they play, Melancon should continue to rack up saves.
