Stefan Crichton earns first save of the season on Sunday

by Jon Mathisen | Sun, Apr 18th 6:05pm EDT

RHP Stefan Crichton earned his first save of the season on Sunday when he allowed one hit and one walk with a strikeout over a scoreless ninth inning in the D-Backs 5-2 win over the Nationals.

Fantasy Impact:

This was Crichton's first save opportunity of the year and he was able to get the job done despite walking Kyle Schwarber and surrendering a single to Victor Robles. He settled in and was able to secure the win anyways. Arizona has employed a closer-by-committee strategy this season so we can't predict who will get the next chance for the D-Backs. Chris Devenski is still on the restricted list while prospect J.B. Bukauskas was just called up. Crichton did save five games for Arizona last year so he has some experience under his belt. He's worth a speculative waiver add if you're desperate for saves as he appears to be the favorite in the interim.
