Blake Snell pitches 5 solid innings on Sunday

Blake Snell gave up 2 earned runs in 5 innings pitched in the Padres' win over the Dodgers on Sunday. Snell struck out 7 in the outing and walked 2.

Fantasy Impact:

Snell was solid in his start against a loaded Dodgers' lineup on Sunday. Snell once again failed to record an out later than the 5th inning -- a feat he has yet to accomplish this season. Still, Snell was much improved from his last start when he didn't make it out of the first inning. Snell's strikeout rate continues to be very good this year, but he needs to improve on his walk rate to yield the returns his fantasy managers expected when they drafted him. Until Snell gets his command under control, his walks and innings pitched will continue to be a concern in the fantasy world. Snell's next start should come against the Dodgers later this week. Although Snell has another tough matchup this week, fantasy managers shouldn't panic as Snell should have starts in May against the Giants, Rockies, Cardinals, and Mariners.
