LHP Wandy Peralta picked up his second save of the year on Monday when he pitched a scoreless ninth inning with one strikeout in a 2-0 win over the Giants.
Jake McGee, the Giants' regular closer, is on the COVID-19 injured list so he was unavailable on Monday. Manager Gabe Kapler turned to Peralta to shut the door on the Phillies and he did his job. The 29-year-old southpaw has registered a 3.86 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, and 6:2 K/BB ratio over seven innings this season. This was a one-off save opportunity with McGee unavailable so Peralta isn't worth grabbing off the waiver wire.
