Carlos Martinez had his best start of the season on Wednesday, logging a quality start by pitching six innings and only allowing four hits, a walk, and an earned run in a 1-0 loss to Washington. Martinez added three strikeouts as well.
Martinez featured some of his best velocity of the season and went toe-to-toe with Max Scherzer in this one yet still dropped to 0-4 on the season. The lone run scored on a Josh Bell double in the second inning. The 29-year-old will take a 6.00 ERA and 1.24 WHIP into his next start against Philadelphia who knocked him around for six earned runs last week.
