Giovanny Gallegos records two-inning save with Reyes unavailable
by Lucas Spence | Cardinals Correspondent | Sat, Apr 24th 7:15pm EDT
Giovanny Gallegos was called upon to protect a 2-0 lead on Saturday afternoon, pitching two scoreless innings to pick up his first save of the season.
Fantasy Impact:
Closer Alex Reyes had pitched in three straight games, so he was unavailable on Saturday. Notably, it was Gallegos - and not Jordan Hicks (who struggled on Friday) - who was asked to close the door for the Cardinals. Gallegos hit a batter to lead off the eighth, but otherwise retired the next six batters without any issues (no strikeouts).
