Blake Snell solid in start on Saturday, fails to make it through the 6th

Blake Snell gave up 2 earned runs in 5.1 innings pitched in the Padres' loss to the Dodgers on Saturday. Snell struck out 7 and walked 2 in the outing.

Fantasy Impact:

Snell now has a 3.92 ERA and 1.45 WHIP. He's striking out 13.50 batters per nine innings, which is well above average. His walk rate is well below average. He has yet to pitch through the sixth inning in a game this year. All of this is to say that 'solid' is an appropriate way to describe what Snell has been to fantasy managers to this point in the season. The issue with Snell just being 'solid' is that most fantasy managers didn't draft him to be a middle of the road starter for their team. Many were expecting a possible top-20 performance in Snell's first year in San Diego. It's obviously still early, but Snell needs to get his command under control if he's going to yield the fantasy results that many expected. The Padres are entering an easy part of their schedule, and Snell will likely have two starts against the Giants and two starts against the Rockies in his next four outings.
