Glen Perkins folds in high leverage relief appearance

by Matt Smith | Wed, Apr 22nd 12:10pm EDT

Glen Perkins came into a tied game with two outs in the eighth inning Tuesday night against the Royals to face Mike Moustakas with a runner on third base. He subsequently gave up a single that scored what would be the winning run. Perkins then retired Lorenzo Cain on a fly ball to end the inning.

Fantasy Impact:

Perkins was not responsible for the inherited runner, but according to manager Paul Molitor, was brought in specifically to face Moustakas in that situation. This was not a save situation and Perkins was not on the hook for the loss. In reality, all he did was allow a hot hitter to single on a soft line drive. Unfortunately, that was enough to lose the game for the Twins.
