German Marquez can't escape first inning after allowing eight runs

by Andersen Pickard | Rockies Correspondent | Wed, May 5th 7:45am EDT

Rockies starter German Marquez allowed eight runs on six hits and a pair of walks on Tuesday. He earned the loss as Colorado fell to the Giants. Marquez retired just two batters (including one via strikeout) before being pulled from the game.

Fantasy Impact:

Marquez is now 1-3 this season with a 6.21 ERA, 1.68 WHIP, and .273 OBA. He's allowed 21 walks and 34 strikeouts over seven starts (33.1 innings). He'll return to the mound on Sunday against the Cardinals. Despite the poor start, he's a viable fantasy option, ranking 57th among starters in the latest rest-of-season expert consensus rankings.
