Johan Oviedo struggles in loss to Mets on Wednesday night

by Lucas Spence | Pirates Correspondent | Wed, May 5th 11:12pm EDT

Johan Oviedo started in the second game of the Cardinals doubleheader against the Mets on Wednesday but lasted only four innings, giving up five hits, two walks, and four earned runs in a 7-2 loss. Oviedo added two strikeouts.

Fantasy Impact:

Oviedo surrendered home runs to Tomas Nido and Jonathan Villar of all people - it was each of their first homers of the season. The 23-year-old entered the game with a 2.79 ERA after his first two appearances this season but failed to impress today. The undrafted right-hander has shown some glimpses in his brief time in the majors since last season, but he remains a work-in-progress. If he remains in the rotation, he would be lined up to face the Brewers next week.
