John Gant walks six batters in loss to Mets

by Lucas Spence | Thu, May 6th 5:46pm EDT

John Gant continued his erratic ways on Thursday afternoon, giving up five hits, two runs (one earned), and walking six batters in just 4 1/3 innings in a 4-1 loss to the Mets. Gant threw 98 pitches and struck out five while falling to 2-3 on the season.

Fantasy Impact:

Gant walked five batters in his previous outing and has now issued an alarming 24 walks in 29 1/3 innings pitched this season, resulting in a 1.70 WHIP. Don't be fooled by the 2.15 ERA as Gant has been playing with fire (and baserunners) all season long. That ERA is due for some massive correction soon unless he gets the walks under control in a hurry. He's issued at least two walks in every outing this season. He's set to face the struggling Brewers offense next week.
