Jake McGee earns eighth save of the year on Friday

by Jon Mathisen | Sat, May 8th 10:55am EDT

LHP Jake McGee picked up the save on Friday when he struck out three and walked one over a scoreless ninth inning in the Giants' 5-4 win over the Padres.

Fantasy Impact:

Despite manager Gabe Kapler saying Tyler Rogers could be in line for some save opportunities, it was McGee who got the chance on Friday. He performed well and buttoned up his eighth save of the season. He walked Jake Cronenworth to begin the frame but then fanned the next three hitters to end it. This was the veteran southpaw's first save since April 22. He owns a 5.14 ERA, 1.14 WHIP, and 21:4 K/BB ratio over 14 innings pitched. He should continue to get the lion's share of save chances moving forward.
