Merrill Kelly takes the loss on Thusday

by Jon Mathisen | Diamondbacks Correspondent | Fri, May 14th 12:12pm EDT

RHP Merrill Kelly took the loss on Thursday when he allowed three runs on seven hits with two walks and four strikeouts as the Diamondbacks were defeated 5-1 by the Marlins.

Fantasy Impact:

Kelly held the Marlins' offense to just two runs through his first six innings. He came back out for the seventh and recorded one out before walking Garrett Cooper and exiting the game. Cooper would come around to score off of a Jesus Aguilar single against Chris Devenski, which closed the book on Kelly. The 32-year-old owns an underwhelming 5.24 ERA, 1.46 WHIP, and 34:16 K/BB ratio across 44 2/3 innings. He gets the Dodgers on the road next week and isn't worth starting in that one.
