by Brad Camara | Red Sox Correspondent | Fri, May 14th 9:50pm EDT

Lucas Giolito (2-4) allowed five runs on five hits and three walks while striking out seven across six innings during Game 1 of Friday’s 6-2 loss to the Royals. He was tagged with his fourth loss of the season.

Fantasy Impact:

Giolito allowed five runs via the long ball during Thursday’s Game 1 loss. He surrendered a two-run shot to Michael Taylor in the second inning and then yielded a three-run blast to Salvador Perez in the third frame. He threw a total of 98 pitches, landing 60 for strikes. The 26-year-old has now allowed four or more runs in three of his last starts. Giolito owns a 4.97 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, and 50 strikeouts across 41 2/3 innings in 2021. He will look for better results against the Twins next week.
