Kevin Gausman fans 12 in no-decision

by Jon Mathisen | Blue Jays Correspondent | Fri, May 14th 10:43pm EDT

RHP Kevin Gausman took a no-decision on Friday when he allowed one run on five hits with a season-best 12 strikeouts over eight innings as the Giants lost to the Pirates 3-2.

Fantasy Impact:

This was one of Gausman's better starts in a Giants uniform as he stuck out a season-high 12 with no walks. He was in line for a 1-0 win heading into the bottom of the ninth inning as he was going for the complete game. But he allowed a pair of back-to-back singles to start things off and was replaced by Jake Mcgee, who surrendered an RBI single to Bryan Reynolds that tied the game. The Giants would go on to lose in extra innings. It was a tough luck no-decision for the hard-throwing 30-year-old who now owns an eye-popping 1.84 ERA and 0.84 WHIP over 53 2/3 innings. He'll try to lower it even more in Cincinnati next week when he faces the Reds.
