Daniel Bard allowed one walk over a scoreless ninth inning to earn the save in Friday’s 9-6 win over the Reds.
Bard entered the ninth inning to protect a 9-6 lead and retired three of four batters he faced to earn his fourth save of the season. He’s converted four of seven save opportunities in 2021. The 35-year-old has struggled this year, owning a 6.59 ERA, 2.05 WHIP, and a 16:8 K: BB across 13 2/3 innings in 2021. Despite Bard’s struggles this season, he remains the Rockies closer and should be rostered in all league formats.
