Ryan Weathers gives up 2 earned over 4 innings on Sunday

by Matt Flipi | Marlins Correspondent | Mon, May 17th 11:12am EDT

Ryan Weathers gave up 2 earned runs in 4.0 innings pitched in the Padres' win over the Cardinals on Sunday. Weathers did not strike out or walk anyone in the outing.

Fantasy Impact:

Weathers didn't have his best stuff on Sunday night, but he still managed a decent outing. Weathers didn't miss many bats against the Cardinals, and he got himself into some trouble in the first inning. Weathers put up a clean line after that, and now has a 1.37 ERA on the season. Weathers has been a pleasant surprise for the Padres so far this season, and should continue to get opportunities. Despite Weathers' longterm upside, his potential for this season is limited by what will likely be a low innings total and a low strikeout total. Weathers and Dinelson Lamet were once again used as a tandem on Sunday. That could be the case for the foreseeable future, which means Weathers could struggle to put up big counting stats to go along with his stellar ERA and WHIP.
