Dinelson Lamet struggles with control over two innings on Sunday

Dinelson Lamet pitched 2 innings of relief in the Padres' win over the Cardinals on Sunday. Lamet gave up an earned run, struck out 2, and walked 2 in the outing.

Fantasy Impact:

Lamet is still working his way back from injury, and has been working as a tandem with Ryan Weathers for the past couple weeks. Lamet has struggled with his control since returning from injury, walking 4 batters in 8 innings so far this season. It will likely take some time for Lamet to get his rhythm back and get completely stretched out. Accordingly, he likely won't be pitching deep into games any time soon. This means his counting stats won't take a jump for at least a few weeks, if not more. That being said, the Padres should continue to use him in short spurts to build up his arm, so he could put up solid ERA and WHIP numbers for the foreseeable future. After what Lamet did in 2020, he's still a hold for now. His second half of 2021 could look very different from his first.
