Yusei Kikuchi overcomes slow start to toss quality start Monday

by Ari Koslow | Blue Jays Correspondent | Tue, May 18th 12:51am EDT

Yusei Kikuchi took the loss Monday against Detroit, allowing three runs on three hits over six innings with eight strikeouts and four walks.

Fantasy Impact:

It looked like Kikuchi was going to cruise through the first inning after retiring the first two Tigers hitters in seven pitches. However, one single and two walks later and he found himself in a bases loaded jam in the first inning. Kikuchi was able to strike out Wilson Ramos to get himself out of the jam. However, his struggles continued into the second inning when he allowed a solo home run and a two-run home run. He was able to settle in after that, walking one hitter and not allowing a hit in the next four innings.
