Franchy Cordero optioned to Triple-A

by Andersen Pickard | Thu, May 27th 12:22pm EDT

The Red Sox have optioned outfielder Franchy Cordero to Triple-A Worcester, according to an announcement from the club. No corresponding move has been reported. (Jen McCaffrey on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

Boston acquired Cordero from the Royals in the Andrew Benintendi trade this offseason. Over 34 games with the club, he has slashed .179/.228/.274 with just one home run, nine RBI, and six walks. Meanwhile, he's struck out 37 times. By sending Cordero to the minors, Boston has plenty of potential routes they can take. They don't necessarily need to bring up an outfielder thanks to Danny Santana's recent promotion, though it's worth noting that Jarren Duran, the club's No. 3 prospect, is slashing .278/.366/.625 with seven home runs and four stolen bases in Triple-A.
