Jed Lowrie will have surgery on his right thumb

Jed Lowrie will has been placed on the 15-day disabled list and will undergo surgery on his right thumb to repair a ligament tear. He will be on the DL until after the All-Star Break at least. (Astros.com)
Fantasy Impact:
This is a huge blow to the Astros as well as fantasy owners. Lowrie was a top-5 option at the SS position so far this season, but his fantasy value takes a nosedive with this news. Lowrie should be held onto in AL-Only leagues, but in other formats (assuming you don't have a DL/BE slot to stash him in) you can consider dropping him if there are decent options on the waiver wire.
