Kevin Gausman takes first loss of the season on Saturday

by Jon Mathisen | Blue Jays Correspondent | Sat, Jun 12th 6:31pm EDT

RHP Kevin Gausman took his first loss of the year when he allowed two earned runs on three hits with two walks and four strikeouts in game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader against the Nationals.

Fantasy Impact:

Well, Gausman was bound to take a loss at some point this season. He didn't pitch poorly but the Giants weren't able to muster any run support for him. Kyle Schwarber led the game off with a solo home run and then Josh Harrison knocked in a run with an RBI double in the fourth inning. The hard-throwing right-hander now owns a 1.43 ERA, 0.97 WHIP, and superb 97:18 K/BB ratio over 81 2/3 innings (13 starts). He draws the lowly Diamondbacks in his next turn.
