Max Fried tosses six innings Saturday

by Steve Painter | Braves Correspondent | Sun, Jun 13th 12:21am EDT

Max Fried pitched six innings against the Marlins Saturday, allowing five hits, three runs (all earned), and two walks while striking out four batters. The three runs were all the Marlins needed for the win, although they did add another run later in the game, and Fried was tagged with the loss, but he did earn a quality start. His record stands at 3-4 on the year. Fried threw 94 pitches, 65 for strikes. He carries a 4.62 ERA.

Fantasy Impact:

The 94 pitches over six innings is a concern but Fried managed to control the damage on a day when he was not sharp. He has five quality starts in his last six starts so he is trending upward as far as that goes. Wins are a different matter as the Braves' offense has sputtered thus far, and they are missing two big bats. Overall, if your league scores quality starts you'll likely be fairly satisfied with Fried this year, but he might be a little lighter than expected with wins.
