Zac Gallen takes the loss in return on Thursday

by Jon Mathisen | Diamondbacks Correspondent | Thu, Jun 17th 10:49pm EDT

RHP Zac Gallen took the loss on Thursday when he allowed four runs on four hits with one walk and three strikeouts over 2 2/3 innings as the Diamondbacks lost to the Giants 10-3.

Fantasy Impact:

Gallen was making his first start since early May after missing time with a strained elbow while also dealing with a stress fracture in his forearm. Combine that with the fact he was facing the first-place Giants and it was a recipe for a rough start. He lasted just 2 2/3 innings while giving up a two-run homer to Curt Casali and a pair of RBI to Mauricio Dubon and Wilmer Flores. He likely had a short leash anyway given how much time he missed but this was far from a solid start. He now owns a 3.99 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, and 35:15 K/BB ratio over 29 1/3 innings (six starts). He'll get the Brewers at home in his next start. Hopefully, he lasts a little longer in that one.
