John Gant gives up three runs, takes loss on Thursday

by Lucas Spence | Fri, Jun 18th 12:58pm EDT

Cardinals starter John Gant surrendered four hits and two walks across 5 1/3 innings in a loss to the Braves on Thursday. Gant added four strikeouts while his record dropped to 4-5 on the season.

Fantasy Impact:

Gant was locked into a scoreless battle with Braves starter Charlie Morton through four innings before allowing a solo home run to Guillermo Heredia in the fifth followed by two more runs in the sixth. After overachieving early in the season by posting a 2.16 ERA in April and a 1.37 ERA in May, Gant owns a horrendous 7.94 ERA and 1.71 WHIP through four starts in June. He has a semi-favorable matchup on tap next week in Detroit.
