Adam Wainwright picks up complete game win in first half of DH Sunday

by Lucas Spence | Sun, Jun 20th 8:42pm EDT

Adam Wainwright was terrific against the Braves in the first half of a doubleheader on Sunday, firing seven innings while scattering just three hits, three walks, and an earned run in a 9-1 victory. Wainwright also registered a season-high 11 strikeouts.

Fantasy Impact:

The 39-year-old veteran picks up a complete game thanks to the seven-inning doubleheader rules, but fantasy managers surely won't complain. Wainwright was brilliant all afternoon on Father's Day, keeping the Braves off balance with his patented curveball. After posting a 3.15 ERA in the shortened 2020 season, the right-hander now owns an impressive 3.74 ERA and 1.12 WHIP with 84 strikeouts in 86 2/3 innings this season and carries plenty of mixed-league value heading into a tasty matchup with Pittsburgh next weekend.
