Ralph Garza Jr. escapes bases-loaded jam in ninth

by Andersen Pickard | Mon, Jun 21st 7:40am EDT

Tasked with pitching the ninth inning against the White Sox on Sunday, Astros reliever Ralph Garza Jr. succeeded, though it didn't come easily. The right-handed struck out Yoan Moncada and Tim Anderson but then allowed a walk, double, and walk to load the bases. Already 21 pitches into his outing, Garza found himself in a jam. He was able to escape, though, thanks to a four-pitch at-bat from Andrew Vaughn that resulted in a popout.

Fantasy Impact:

Over five innings this season, Garza is 0-1 with five hits, three earned runs, three walks, and six strikeouts. He has, however, allowed zero runs while striking out three batters over his last two outings.
