Merrill Kelly picks up a much needed win for Arizona

by Jon Mathisen | Diamondbacks Correspondent | Tue, Jun 22nd 11:20am EDT

RHP Merrill Kelly earned the win on Monday when he allowed one run on five hits with one walk and five strikeouts across seven innings as the D-Backs were finally victorious, defeating the Brewers 5-1.

Fantasy Impact:

This game started out like every other D-Backs loss over the last two months with the opponent striking first. Avisail Garcia picked up an RBI single to score Kolten Wong. But Kelly really settled down after that, allowing just two base runners over the next six innings. The Arizona offense was able to provide some run support and they held on for the win. The 32-year-old right-hander now owns a 5.06 ERA, 1.32 WHIP, and 77:25 K/BB ratio across 85 1/3 innings (15 starts). He gets a tough test on the road against the Padres in his next start.
