Kansas City Royals pitcher Scott Barlow (2-3) allowed two earned runs on three hits while striking out none blowing the save opportunity during Wednesday’s 5-2 loss to the Reds. He tagged with his second loss of the season.
Barlow entered the game in the seventh inning to protect a 2-0 lead. With runners on first and second, Barlow surrendered an RBI single to Mike Freeman. He later yielded a two-run double to Jonathan India and was charged with the blown save. The Royals were turning to Barlow for ninth-inning duties recently as he notched saves in back-to-back games entering Wednesday’s contest. Barlow should be rostered in deep-league formats, owning a 2.38 ERA, 1.25 WHIP, and a 59:17 K: BB across 41 2/3 innings in 2021.
