Alex Cobb still not cleared to face hitters

by Jamison Malasko | Giants Correspondent | Sat, May 2nd 6:06pm EDT

Alex Cobb, who has yet to pitch this season with forearm tendinitis, has not been cleared yet to face live hitters. Cobb threw 30 pitches in a bullpen session on Monday but is still left with no timetable for a return. Cobb was 10-9 with a 2.87 ERA and 149:47 K:BB ratio in 166 1/3 innings in 2014. (Cbssports.com)

Fantasy Impact:

This isn't the news that the Rays were looking for as Cobb was initially scheduled to come back sometime in May. The fact that he has only thrown 30 pitches in a bullpen session and has not been cleared to face hitters is not a positive sign. The Rays are starting to get healthy in their rotation and having someone like Cobb back in it would help keep them in the thick of the AL east.
