Drew Smyly goes 5 2/3 innings Sunday

by Steve Painter | Cubs Correspondent | Sun, Jul 18th 10:50pm EDT

Drew Smyly pitched 5 2/3 innings against the Rays Sunday, allowing four hits, three runs (all earned), and two walks while striking out six batters. He drew a no-decision as the Braves bullpen imploded again. Smyly threw 92 pitches, 63 for strikes. He carries a 4.50 ERA.

Fantasy Impact:

The Braves offense is doing their best to provide support for the Braves starters, without Ronald Acuna Jr., Travis d'Arnaud, and Marcell Ozuna. But the devil of the truth is the Braves bullpen, who can't seem to hold leads. Going forward, wins might be hit or miss for Smyly but he must produce more quality starts to be an effective fantasy starter.
