Alex Reyes suffers first blown save in epic meltdown on Tuesday

by Lucas Spence | Wed, Jul 21st 12:13pm EDT

Alex Reyes allowed two hits, three earned runs, and two walks while recording only one out in the ninth inning on Tuesday, suffering his first blown save of the season in a 7-6 loss to the Cubs.

Fantasy Impact:

The Cardinals led 6-1 entering the ninth inning before the wheels fell off. Luis Garcia loaded the bases to begin the inning at which point Reyes was summoned from the bullpen. The All-Star walked a pair of batters (with a strikeout in between) before surrendering a two-run single to Javier Baez and the go-ahead, two-run double to Ian Happ in what was easily his worst outing of the season. Reyes falls to 5-4 on the season while his ERA jumps to 2.06 with a troublesome 1.42 WHIP. He's now 22-for-23 in save chances on the season.
