Zac Gallen rocked by the Cubs in Friday's loss

by Jon Mathisen | Diamondbacks Correspondent | Fri, Jul 23rd 8:09pm EDT

RHP Zac Gallen was demolished on Friday afternoon when he allowed seven runs on six hits with three walks and five strikeouts over four innings as the D-Backs lost 8-3 to the Cubs.

Fantasy Impact:

Gallen was taken to the cleaners in this one and his troubles started in the first inning. He served up a three-run blast to Javier Baez in the opening frame before Anthony Rizzo scored on a wild pitch in the third. Nico Hoerner slapped a two-run single in the same inning and Robinson Chirinos capped off the scoring with a solo dinger in the fourth. The seven earned runs were the most Gallen has given up all year in what has been a lost season. He'll carry a 4.80 ERA, 1.40 WHIP, and 61:26 K/BB ratio over 50 2/3 innings (11 starts) into a home start against the Dodgers.
