Touki Toussaint outstanding over seven innings Sunday

by Steve Painter | White Sox Correspondent | Sun, Jul 25th 10:05pm EDT

Touki Toussaint pitched seven innings against the Phillies Sunday, allowing five hits, and one run (earned), while striking out 10 batters. The Phillies won 2-1 behind some good pitching on their side and Toussaint was tagged with the loss, but he did earn a quality start, his record sits at 1-1 on the year. He threw 90 pitches, 64 for strikes and he carries a 1.32 ERA.

Fantasy Impact:

This was Toussaint's second start of the year, he spent time on IL, and both starts have been solid against two good-hitting teams, the Padres were the first opponents. Some fantasy managers are flocking to the wire to pick him up, and that might or might not be a good move, too early to tell. His history tells us these good times will be muted by command issues, leading to inconsistency. But the lightbulb may have gone 'on' with Touki, a couple of more starts will tell.
