German Marquez strikes out eight in loss

Rockies starter German Marquez had a shaky outing against the Angels on Monday as he allowed four runs (three earned) on eight hits over 6.1 innings. On a more positive note, he struck out eight batters and did not walk anyone. Marquez was still hit with the loss as Colorado ultimately fell to Los Angeles by a score of 6-2.

Marquez is now 8-8 with a 3.54 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, and .221 OBA through 21 starts this season. He's walked 44 batters while striking out 127 and has emerged as the ace of Colorado's rotation. Over his last seven starts, Marquez has amassed an impressive 1.86 ERA.
